Healing Without Drugs or Surgery

Healing Without Drugs or Surgery

No drugsEastern medicine, and its two most well known tools of acupuncture and herbs, is the subject of many clinical trials and studies. It’s non-drug, non-surgery approach to healing works well in the clinical setting, but resists western-based research efforts to explain how exactly it works.

In spite of the resistance to clinical trials, it is simple to overlay the knowledge of the bodies systems and functions, in order to explain what the acupuncture and herbs are doing to heal.

For example, a patient who is suffering from fatigue learns that breathing and eating are the two ways to get energy. Chinese medicine calls all energy Qi (chee) and energy from breathing, or from the air, is Kong Qi and Gu Qi is the energy from food. These two forms of Qi mix in the stomach and are sent as a mist to the lungs, where they are dispersed throughout the entire body.

This is the equivalent of the respiratory and digestive system that, if not functioning properly, would cause fatigue.

But, explanations and understanding, are not a high priority with our patients. They want relief from their symptoms. And so, while we may be able to describe, explain, justify, and prove, we are mainly concerned with getting healing results for each patient.

At Heavenly Bodies Clinic, we offer our patients bio-energetic medicine to heal, support, rejuvenate, re-awaken, strengthen, harmonize and sensitize their bodies in an effort to bring each person to their full potential for optimum health and a life lived joyfully every single day.

Our therapists have interesting stories, the latest updates on therapy research, personal stories, timely information, great recipes, and useful ideas in the various categories you see on our blog.

I have been seeing Dr. Ana and crew for more than 10 years for a variety of issues, including fibromyalgia, migraines, and shingles. All of the treatments available, acupuncture, Thai massage, Herbs, meridian exercise, cranial sacral therapy and myofascia unwinding, and the sauna detox program have ALL had dramatic affect and helped me manage my pain over the years. And the Northern Virginia location of the clinic is great, too!

    Very informative website!

    Dr. Ana,

I currently am receiving Acupuncture treatments for Sciatic Nerve Pain due to failed back surgery and Cranial Sacral Therapy for Allergy and Sinus issues at Heavenly Bodies Clinic. My quality of life has improved tremendously since I started these treatments.

My last office visit my doctor referred me to a Rheumatologist for evaluation/testing/diagnosis and treatment of an autoimmune disease which he believes I may have due to my symptoms. I have one wondering the following:

Question: Are there Chinese herbs that could support my immune system if I am diagnosed with an autoimmune disease? Is it possible that Acupuncture and/or Cranial Sacral Therapy can be applied for treatment of an autoimmune disease?

Chinese medicine has an herb for treatment of most known health problems. The herbs are chosen for their energetic qualities such as generating warmth or creating cold; improving the movement of blood or the rising of energy; calming the nerves or promoting the free flow of body fluids. We have seen many patients over the years with inflammatory autoimmune diseases who have been brought out of pain through a combination herbal formula that cools the body systems, stopping the damage.

We are currently treating a woman with rheumatoid arthritis, an inflammation in the joints. Our patient had severe pain and weakness in her wrists that was worsening; numbness and tingling in her feet; and severe fatigue with some inability to focus. Her rheumatologist was insisting that she start medication but our patient was not convinced. She was recommended to HBC and we set out on a program of acupuncture, an herbal formula that she took each day, and an application of topical herbs…all with the focus of cooling her body and circulating the blood. Today, after 6 months of treatment, she has normalized joint strength, and absolutely no pain in her wrists. She will tell everyone who will listen, “I can play ball with my children! I can cook again because I can lift the heavy pans!” The numbness, tingling and electric shocks in her feet are radically diminished and we are treating to see if we can bring it to full resolution.

I’m sure your condition will respond just as well so let’s get you started on a program to treat whatever autoimmune disease diagnosis you receive!
    Dr. Ana
