NERVES REACT BADLY TO FLU SHOT

One week after the flu shot, the patient came to me with severe buzzing in her feet, legs, pelvic/groin area and face.

She could not think of any environmental, food or physical reason for the symptom and could only associate it with having had a flu shot one week prior to the onset of symptoms.

Initially the buzzing was only in her feet but, as it worsened she started to feel it in her legs and within two weeks there was severe buzzing in her groin/pelvic area.

The OB/GYN could find nothing in blood tests or hormone tests to indicate a reason for the symptoms.  At the neurologists office, there was no forthcoming diagnosis and an MRI showed everything normal in the brain.

By the time the patient came for acupuncture, the buzzing was in her hands and arms, and she was experiencing muscle twitches in her cheeks.

The only thing that reduced the symptoms was if she went swimming.

I gave her every confidence that we could treat the symptoms with acupuncture and herbs.  Afterall, it was classic symptoms that were easily related to the Liver, Kidney and Spleen meridian–the very meridians I had successfully treated over my many years in the clinic.

After the first treatment using acupuncture and recommending an herbal foot & all-body bath, there was no improvement.  After the second treatment using slightly different points the patient had a few hours of milder buzzing but it increased over the next couple of days until it was back to normal.

After the third treatment, and adding a predominantly liver formula to Calm Liver Yang Rising, Secure Kidney Essence, Tonify Yin, and Calm the Shen, the patient had 3 full days of  symptom remission and she was back in the clinic before the symptoms increased.

Thinking about the fact that she had total remission of symptoms when she was swimming, I gave the patient a salt bath formula: alantoin, grey sea salt, spirulina and chloryphyll.

At her fourth treatment the patient was doing well with symptoms at a level 1, her confidence secured, and her fears totally alleviated.

The patient remains in treatment and, with her nurses degree behind her, she is recommending Traditional Chinese Medicine to her co-workers in the western medicine community!
