Stress Affects Your Health

Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing environment. It has physical and emotional effects on us and although it can create positive feelings, sometimes even a small amount of stress can cause illness. The stress results in mental or spiritual pain, which then results in physical disease, it is categorized as psychosomatic illness.

As a negative influence, stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression. These negative emotions in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. When a physical illness has its origin in the mind and emotions, it is often called psychosomatic illness (psyche=of the mind; soma=of the body)

It may be possible to heal the physical problems by addressing the stress or the mental or spiritual pain. For some people, healing the physical problems will often remove the stress.
