All Hail to Robust Greens!

It started as a delivery of a nice bunch of kale and radish greens (the tops of the radishes), accompanied by some spikes of fennel.

It morphed into a beautiful, robustly flavored green drink to be shared among the staff at Heavenly Bodies Clinic.

Having Tammy as our  resident AMAZING cook means that we’re always getting to sample good tasting and beautiful recipes.

Especially during season changes (now) we look for ways to lighten our eating with those beautiful recipes.

So, when I saw the greens on the counter, I looked in the fridge to see what kind of recipe I could make…and I found only yellow miso paste, detox vegetable soup, and our Detox Formula Liquid Vitamins.

Not much to work with, but at the minimum a very high quality, nutrient dense, green smoothy could be concocted!

I chose the miso, over the detox soup, as my liquid base.  With it’s combo salty and sweet goodness, it was the perfect liquid to whip up a fennel-flavored, sharp and tangy green drink.

KALE: Vitamin C, A, K / full of anti-oxidants / cancer fighting properties / anti-inflammatory

FENNEL: Vitamin C, K / full of anti-oxidants / fabulous for heart health / high in dietary fiber

RADISH GREENS: Vitamin A, C, K / super rich in calcium

8 or 10 ounces of this drink will keep us all going through the day, long into the night, and up early–especially necessary  for Maria and Tammy who are studying to take the National Professional Exam in Chinese medicine!  And, this little bit of super food,  nutritionally packing a super-whollop, will be enough for two people for two days of brain enhancing eating.

To round out the two days of eating, add a little protein in a simple sautee of 3-6 oz of tender steak if you’re a meat-eater; or add a great big bowl of  persimmon, date and wild rice if you’re a vegetarian.
