A few days ago, I was given the opportunity to help a patient who was still in severe pain seven days after abdominal surgery to remove a cyst on her ovary. Her surgeon told her she’d be back to normal in seven days and she reported that she was still feeling a lot of pain on that side and it was radiating to her back.

She was discouraged by the continuing high level of pain and worried that it might mean her chances of successful pregnancy were now slim.

While she was squirming to get comfortable on the treatment table for acupuncture, I laid my hands gently on her head and cradled her neck in one of the simplest and most gentle cranial sacral treatment manipulations.

She reported feeling immediate relief and I felt her body relax.

Within a minute or two, she commented, “Your hand on my right shoulder is releasing tension down my back and into my right hip. I feel so much better!”
