Dry Mouth & Leg Cramps: 2 common problems – 2 easy fixes

Most of the time pesky health problems don’t do more than irritate us. When they get out of hand though, they can be screamingly,  maddeningly, painful.

Thankfully, we carry around the instant solution to many of them, and a cure can be found in a short  Bio-Detox program or an Acupuncture treatment. Banish them forever!

Here are two immediate solutions to two common problems, one causing emotional pain and one causing physical pain, and the explanation as to what makes the solutions work.

1. DRY MOUTH  If you experience dry mouth when you have to talk to someone who scares you (your boss?  200 people?), chew on your tongue for about 30 seconds and you’ll notice saliva coming into your cheeks, lubricating your entire mouth.  Now you can go out on that stage and knock ’em dead.  If you’re IN the meeting with your boss trying to verbally support your request for a raise and you go dry, you don’t have to act like a dog with a bone…just a light, imperceptible little nibbling will do the trick.

Specific areas of the tongue represent the liver, heart and stomach meridian.  The Liver meridian treats emotional upset; the Heart meridian treats nervous conditions and the stomach produces fluids, which are sent up to the tongue.

According to Chinese medicine theory then, it makes sense that chewing on your tongue could lower your emotional upset, calm your nerves and produce saliva!

Aaarrgh!

Aaarrgh!

2. LEG CRAMPS  No matter which way you turn, what contortions you try to get your muscles to relax, or how you zen breathe, your muscles are still cramping and you still want to scream in agony. If leg cramps wake you bolt upright with pain in the middle of the night grab the skin under your nose and above your lip (an area called the philtrum), squeeze and hold for 30 seconds.

You might have to repeat the pinching several times but, don’t give up. It works and you’ll be thankful for the pain relief!  You’ll find yourself  relaxing, sound asleep within seconds, thinking it must have been a bad dream.

According to Chinese medicine, you are pinching an acupuncture point called Man’s Middle, Du 26, on the Governing Meridian. It has a very strong action on calming the mind and restoring consciousness. In fact, this is the single most important point for resuscitation and restoring yin-yang harmony.

I had acupuncture treatment from Dr. Ana recently for leg and foot cramps. Problem solved almost immediately. Pinching D 26 is an excellent suggestion as well from Dr. Ana.

Both of these problems are often associated with simple dehydration . . . and put us at risk of more serious ones (thickened blood, blood clots, stroke, dementia, etc.) Drink up! Thank you, Dr. Ana, for the in-the-moment fascinating fixes.
